| Seren is a not-for-profit organisation providing housing and support services to 11,000 customers in 5,300 homes. Its purpose is to make real and positive differences to people's lives Through her uniquely inspirational leadership, Amanda gives Seren staff the confidence and skills they need to raise their sights and deliver a consistently high level of service to customers This nomination came about after the nominator saw a film of people speaking about how Seren had helped them. The range of circumstances shown highlighted the qualities needed to lead an organisation that can make a difference to people's lives across such a wide spectrum. When she joined it, the Seren Group was newly established, with a big job to do. Amanda quickly established a core of leaders and ensured that time, effort and money was invested in an innovative training programme for them, which she took a major part in designing and delivering. Her emphasis was on equipping everyone with the skills to shape, influence and empower each member of their team, and the initiative forged strong links between leaders across the Group. Amanda has truly put customers at the heart of everything Seren does, and she encourages all staff to take every opportunity to engage with and find out what those customers need from Seren. Throughout the development of Seren, Amanda has listened, supported and acted honestly, openly and decisively. She has an innate self-belief and leads by example, trusting and empowering her colleagues. She recognises that she personally can't directly influence every staff member in such a diverse Group but she can, and does, reach everyone through her leadership skills. |
